I've been asked many times by our newbie members how to do this and that. So as it's monotonous for me to incessantly reply to the same questions I decided to start this thread after collecting the questions coming again and again.

I hope those concerned will hence have a better understanding of how this forum works so as to join the SB family and participate in it.

Contrary to what you think a forum is not a place like facebook or Orkut. A forum would be like a place, a public one where people meet and share their interests, opinions and talk about anything they want.



However there are limits set in the shape of rules and moderators are here to make sure that you abide by these rules. At the top of moderators you have administrators commonly called admins.

Whenever you're in trouble with some mebers, instead of fighting like cat & dog, you'd better contact them





So if I could illustrate it better for you a forum would be like a country, with some presidents and their colleagues and the rest of the members are its citizens.

How to post a thread ?

As you may have noticed there are different sections, to know where to post just read the respective introduction and you’re done.

Then click on New Thread that you’ll find at the top on you left.



To reply to a thread click Post reply



To quote someone's post, click Quote

Here come the question # 1 that is How to post a picture ?

Please stop hotlinking, because slowly but surely you're killing the site from which you picked the url. A site has a place where it store all its pictures and that stoage place is not free, I mean the site has to pay it, and each time someone hotlink a picture the site has to pay more than it should usually do.

That's why you should go for a hosting site that will host your pictures for free, the best of all is Photobucket. Well if you like any other site then go for it, I'm not imposing anything here, it's all up to you



you can customize your Photobucket account and choose which links it should display those are the ones I usually choose

If you have a url (http://...) the other option to post a picture is the following one

Click on the yellow icon



a window will pop up asking you to enter the url



at the end you sould have something like this, the url in red between the BBcode IMG in yellow

Now there's a new question emerging that is How to make friends

Well what can I say , except do not be shy and dare talking to others

If you wish to add someone in your friend list, go to his / her page and click as seen below on the picture



I see people who have friends but keep on replying in their own page , no no no - how will your locutor notice that you replied

If you talked to someone just click on view conversation, you'll be directed there and post your reply

And the last question is about videos

What's the site where people are fond of going to watch videos ? Youtubeeeeeeeeeeeee !

The following step works only for Youtube , I might do for the other sites later ...

So at your right, there's a place written url



Pick up that url and especially what is after the = sign

Put it in between ytv code as seen below and you're done

it means you can't post the video anywhere !

So you'll have to go for other sites, that I'll introduce soon

When Youtube says Embedding disabled, then you can go to Google video. The thing is that among the results Google will display not only its videos but also videos from Youtube and I've seen from AOL sometimes.

How to recognize a video is from google ? Just check wether you see a little g on the video as seen below



Now what about the code

Google url link is too long and you might be confused about what is the item you have to put between the gtv code

If you can manage then you do as shown below, that is pick the first number after the = sign



I've found a trick that is click on Embed video and pick up the number you see after the = sign and then put it between the gtv code

maybe you forgot that the bb code are to be taken in account, you sudnt count only the text your wrote but also the codes
