Question -==- Gandhi Vs Bhagat -==-

Continuation from the thread "Have We Failed Gandhi"...I think lot of discussion part centered aroun who was better. So I decided to make another specifically related to that comparison....Here we go again...

The Congress has long ruled India, after her independence, and they have made sure that nobody apart from Mr. Gandhi and Mr. Nehru have got the recognition due to them. Apart from the usual number of unsung heroes, even the ones who were adored by the masses have been slowly and deliberately deleted from the public memory. The Congress politicians, who by the virtue of the official powers they wielded through various organizations, made sure of that...Only Bose stood by Bhagat firmly....

But once again How many among us have visited Hussainiwala or Rajghat and or in future are planning to visit. How many amongst us remember Sukhdev's Rajguru's families. Shakes you isnt it? Both of them had the same goal albeit the paths were different. Those who wish to speak for Shaheed-e-Azam including myself may have never voted in favour of Marxist the theory Bhagat worshipped as well as being atheist....A true Comrade...

    i knew this was coming.....

    ne ways ...

since we have already discussed so much in the other thread... there isn't much scope to discuss now..

    however,

For me its always gonna b Bhagat Singh.... i felt really sad how his life (along with sukhdev and rajguru) ended...

One might say tht Independence has its price.. but then the way he died is wat makes me feel bad...

moreover, for all these years we have been highly influenced by Gandhi.. when there are proofs of his shady deeds.

he was not the only 1 responsible for our independence...

p.s -Hope i ll not piss u off again S KING....

are you talking about the idea of imperialism ? because this is the only thing tht differs Marx from Lenin otherwise , Lenin has quite the same theory as Marx regarding communism because he spent his time studying marxism and then made an essay about imperialism

so i think you might be talking about the idea of imperialism developped by Lenin that Bhagat Singh got inspired by to denounce the British people colonizing India ?

but if I'm wrong you can tell

unfortunately we've only become people that say we're proud of this and that but we never do anything !
we're more interested in trivial things, staying in front of tv and computer , all the thing we got today we take them for granted, and the leaders seem to be forgotten

    ths is very sad

last thing i want to add is all the leaders deserve to be remembered no matter what were their vision regardig something, they all fought for something and that was freedom

freedom did not come like this instantly , freedom is the work of a succession of people !

As a young lad, Bhagat Singh actively took part in the non-cooperation movement and was an admirer of Mahatma Gandhi. He earnestly believed that India would indeed gain freedom under Gandhi's leadership. But when Gandhi called off the movement following the Chauri Chaura riot in 1922, Bhagat Singh became disenchanted with Gandhism and gradually veered towards the tenets of armed revolutionary struggle. Prior to his arrest and subsequent execution, Bhagat Singh led many a valiant attacks against the British machinery. (source:- colors of india)

From an early age he was influenced by socialist ideology and his embracing of armed struggle had as much to do with the success of socialist revolutions elsewhere in the world as with his disillusionment with the prevalent political leadership. He read extensively and wielded a powerful pen.

A great organizer, Bhagat Singh united the restless youth of the day under the aegis of Hindustan Socialist Republican Association and gave a direction to the fledgling armed struggle. Even though he could not achieve freedom for India, Bhagat Singh's martyrhood stirred up the nation and inspired millions of Indian youth to fight against British oppression. While the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress are usually credited for India's independence, the sacrifices made by Bhagat Singh and his comrades too are glorious chapters in India's history. .. Though i may be wrong i think discussions like this are bad ideas

in the last thread also i said that they were both great men and did great things............

Should we discuss who is better,,..........do we have the rights to do so.........we do not do anything for our country and yet we discuss who is greater

is it not enough that both fought for india and gave their lives to give us freedom

i humbly request mr singh to close this thread

Gandhi pays tribute to the patriotism of the young martyr while disagreeing with his revolutionary methods. Excerpted from Gandhi's article in Young India.

Bhagat Singh and his two associates have been hanged. The Congress made many attempts to save their lives and the Government entertained many hopes of it, but all has been in a vain.

Bhagat Singh did not wish to live. He refused to apologize, or even file an appeal. Bhagat Singh was not a devotee of non-violence, but he did not subscribe to the religion of violence. He took to violence due to helplessness and to defend his homeland. In his last letter, Bhagat Singh wrote --" I have been arrested while waging a war. For me there can be no gallows. Put me into the mouth of a cannon and blow me off." These heroes had conquered the fear of death. Let us bow to them a thousand times for their heroism.

But we should not imitate their act. In our land of millions of destitute and crippled people, if we take to the practice of seeking justice through murder, there will be a terrifying situation. Our poor people will become victims of our atrocities. By making a dharma of violence, we shall be reaping the fruit of our own actions.

Hence, though we praise the courage of these brave men, we should never countenance their activities. Our dharma is to swallow our anger, abide by the discipline of non-violence and carry out our duty............

thats wat we have been doing ..... swallowing everything ....

Once again we are missing the point here. The two different ideologies are being mixed to say which was better? Gandhi made mistakes...All men do. Yepp, withdrawing the non-cooperation movement was one of them. But we should always keep in our minds that Non-Cooperation movement was first started by Gandhi himself.

I started this thread as well as the Gandhi thread keeping in mind of the current world situation. I mean whose ideas are more relevant today?, will bring peace to our messed up situation....An eye for eye will make the whole world blind....where are we? we cant even say hello to our neighbour daily in the morning expecting him to say first, Fight on the roads, even try to pull each other legs here at SBF as well thinking we are smart enough for example. Where is the humility....we are not humans even.

The whole mankind is getting towards war. In this scenario I think teachings of Gandhi or his ideology you may say can bring us peace. Gandhi was a saint to me....I again agree he made mistakes vis-a-vis Bhagat and some may also say he was anti to Sikhs as well yet there cant be denying the fact that we need the path shown by him to overcome our current problems...

Its wrong to say such threads brings out hatred Nero....At least one can speak his/her mind. Its absolutely correct that we have no right to say who was better. It would be a sin, perhaps.....Nobody in the world criticise their own heroes like some guys trying to do here. Its a shame...
