    Exclamation Bolt wants more!

After 100m and 200m glory, sprint king wants legendary status

Usain Bolt celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday as the first man ever to hold the 100m and 200m World and Olympic titles at the same time following his staggering performances at the Beijing Olympics and Berlin World Championships.

The Jamaican superstar clocked 19.19 seconds to slash 0.11secs off his own 200m world record on Thursday evening, just four nights after reducing his 100m record by the same margin to 9.58s in the Olympic Stadium.

"My aim is to become a legend and that is what I'm working on, but I don't put myself under pressure. I know what to do out there, I just go on the track and execute it.

"I'm so tired and I just want to get some sleep. Next year won't be so hectic (with just the Commonwealth Games in Delhi) and I'm looking forward to that.

Bolt insists he is not offended by the cynics who will always question whether his amazing achievements are being achieved without the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Bolt has never failed a drugs test and is happy to be tested whenever required.

The likes of Ben Johnson, Justin Gatlin, Dwain Chambers and Marion Jones have forever tainted athletics in the eyes of some, but Bolt remains determined to prove the doubters wrong.

"I will be tested after this and I am not worried," he said. "I train hard and I am always ready.

"I don't get offended because I know year after year people run fast and then they test positive so I know it's going to be in the sport. - PA Sport

    USA in 4x100m relay final

BERLIN: Reigning 4x100m relay champions United States were the fastest team through to the final after yesterday's heats at the World Athletics Championships, while Olympic champions Jamaica minus Usain Bolt were only seventh quickest.

Birthday boy Bolt was given a day off by his team. The relays were delayed by nearly 45 minutes due to a torrential rain storm.

But when the weather cleared, the US team comprising Terrence Trammell, Michael Rodgers, Shawn Crawford and Darvis Patton zoomed away (37.97secs) to reach today's final. - Agencies
