Marisa Tomei - My Cousin Vinny

Whether an urban myth or not, the story goes something like this: In 1992, nominated up against the likes of Vanessa Redgrave and Miranda Richardson, Brooklyn native Marisa Tomei won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Joe Pesci's nagging Brooklynite girlfriend in "My Cousin Vinny." According to lore, aging presenter Jack Palance had been unable to read the envelope, and simply said her name because it was the last to appear on his teleprompter.

In any case, having recently purchased a new set of breasts – featured quite prominently in last year's "The Wrestler" – we'd feel silly not including Tomei somewhere on our list.

    Kim Basinger - LA Confidential

Before falling off the face of the Earth, releasing humiliating voicemails of her ex-husband and starring in horrible films like "The Sentinel," Kim Basinger was one of Hollywood's most sought after, mainstream sex-symbol actresses.

After taking home the 1997 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in "LA Confidential," however, Basinger became one of the few actresses whose career actually seemed to suffer from the accolade. Perhaps, Like Halle Berry, Basinger figured she no longer needed to appear topless in films, having won the world's most prestigious film awar

Gwyneth Paltrow - Shakespeare in Love

Speaking of going topless, while Gwyneth Paltrow's semi-nude love scene with Joseph Fiennes in "Shakespeare in Love" was no-doubt obligatory, no one could deny that it was Paltrow's affected English accent responsible for her 1999 Best Actress win.

Alas, having previously bared her top half in the abhorrently bad "Flesh and Bone" (with Meg Ryan no less!), Paltrow, like Basinger, would never again reveal her funbags on film for the sake of art.

    Damn you, Oscar.

Jodie Foster - The Accused, Silence of the Lambs

Ok...so there are few things going against Jodie Foster being considered a "hot" actress.

For one, there's her intelligence. Definitely not sexy. For another, there's the fact that in almost all of her films, she plays either a woman victimized by men, or, more recently, a woman victimizing the men who victimized her man.

Female empowerment aside, in addition to well deserving both of her Best Actress Oscars (for 1988's "The Accused" and 1991's "Silence of the Lambs"), right up until 2007's "The Brave One," Foster represented one of Hollywood's most enigmatically beautiful actresses. With pixie-esque features, eyes of purest azure and a compact, petite frame, it's indeed curious she was never able to land a husband.

Jane Fonda - Klute, Coming Home

Oh what it must've been like to be alive in America during the early 1970's. The political unrest; the horrible fashions; the bad hair...all leading to the now infamous mid-to-late 70's era of disco, gas lines, and even more horrible fashions and hairstyles.

Embodying early 70's zeitgeist to a T (by way of, among other things, extremely bad accessorizing), Jane Fonda won her first of two Academy Awards in 1972 for playing a terrorized prostitute in the film "Klute." The win cemented Fonda's status as legitimate actress, coming just 3 years after her role as an intergalactic stripper-assassin in "Barbarella."

Fonda would win the Oscar again in 1977, playing a woman who finds the ability to receive orgasm from a paraplegic in the aptly titled "Coming Home." God bless you Ms Fonda...no matter what the Vietnam vets say.
