    Default IPL hat-trick heroes

    Praveen Kumar
Praveen Kumar became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the third edition of IPL, when he dismissed Damien Martyn, Sumit Narwal and Paras Dogra in his third over. Martyn was bowled with a yorker, Narwal was caught at fine-leg and Dogra was bowled trying to pull the hat-trick ball. Kumar’s hat-trick in IPL history also helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to score an emphatic 10-wicket victory in a home game against Rajasthan Royals. Photo: Syed Asif

    Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh is the only cricketer to take a hat-trick twice in IPL. During the second edition of IPL, the former Kings XI Punjab skipper created history twice. First against Bangalore Royal Challengers in Durban, when he sent Jacques Kallis, Robin Uthappa and Mark Boucher, back to the pavilion. Repeating his spin magic against Deccan Chargers in Johannesburg, he picked the wickets of Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Symonds and Venugopal Rao. Photo: AFP

    Rohit Sharma
In Centurion, Rohit Sharma’s hat-trick helped Deccan Chargers to win their first match in the second edition of IPL. In the last two balls of the 16th over, he bowled Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan Singh. In the first ball of his next over, Sharma had J P Duminy caught by wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist, to complete his hat-trick. He returned with a startling bowling figure of 2-0-6-4. Photo: AFP

    Amit Mishra
During the inaugural edition of IPL, a dramatic final-over hat-trick by Amit Mishra helped Delhi Daredevils to clinch a tense victory over Deccan Chargers. His hat-trick came in the 20th over, when he sent Dwaraka Ravi Teja, Pragyan Ojha and Rudra Pratap Singh, back to the pavilion. Registering the overall second hat-trick in the cash rich league, Mishra returned with a magical figure of 4-0-17-5. Photo: AFP

    Lakshmipathy Balaji
Struggling his way out of a back injury, Lakshmipathy Balaji took the cricketing world by storm, when he claimed the first hat-trick in the inaugural edition of IPL. After spending two years in the wilderness, Balaji became the architect of Chennai Super Kings’s dramatic win over Kings XI Punjab. In the final over of Punjab’s innings, he took the wickets of Irfan Pathan, Piyush Chawla and VRV Singh, completing his fairytale comeback. Photo: AFP

    Default Praveen claims hat-trick

    First hat-trick of IPL-3
Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Praveen Kumar became the sixth player in the history of the Indian Premier League - first in season-3 - to record a hat-trick during his team's third IPL match against Rajasthan Royals. Brought back into the attack in the 17th over, Praveen removed Damien Martin, Sumit Narwal and Paras Dogra off successive deliveries to join the elite league. Text: PTI Photo: Syed Asif

    Sixth in the IPL history
Delhi Daredevils' Amit Mishra, Chennai Super Kings duo of L Balaji and Makhaya Ntini, Kings XI Punjab's Yuvraj Singh (twice) and Deccan Chargers' Rohit Sharma had achieved the feat in the previous editions of the event. Praveen did not have a particular good start to the over as he began with a wide and followed it up with a delivery that was put away for a boundary by Martyn. Text: PTI Photo: Syed Asif

    Second wicket
Sumit Narwal walked out to face Praveen Kumar but his turned out to be a forgettable IPL debut as the batsman could not cope with Praveen Kumar's well-directed bouncer and fluffed his pool shot and Manish Pandey ran a long way from fine leg and fumbled for a while before completing a fine running catch.
