Smile Is It safe to eat fresh/raw aloe vera?

Is it safe enough to eat fresh aloe vera pulp directly from a freshly plucked leaf for medicinal uses? Ofcourse im talking about the aloe plant which is the medicinal plant.

I read on one site that it is not safe, so i was wondering if y'all could give me some insight!
    thnx

If u can wash it well before using, then it would be safe.
Washing will help to ward off all dust/germs etc
all vegetables should be used only after proper washing

    meghaa,

    So it is wonderplant ok....
But what matters is where it is grown....of course now u don't wanna catch salmonella infections now do ya??.....

Oops!!....my bad!!...salmonella is the germ that causes typhoid n other diarrhoeal stuff, so to prevent that n other germs.....i guess u shud boil it....

But boiling negates most of the good stuff in it....
So its ur choice....u have to choose the lesser risk!!

Not all aloe vera plant varieties are suitable for consumption. Just consult some one who knows aurveda or internet to distinguish and then you can harness all its goodness.

Keep the plant immersed in water for some time, and wash it well after that, before usage

If you are too confused about this plant then alternatively you can buy its juice readily available in the market.

I think people dont use it in raw form..
never seen anyone eating it as raw.
But have only seen people use only its form which comes in bottles or tubes.
