Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh says audiences will get to see a "new" Vidya Balan in "Kahaani 2" as the actress will perform some action scenes in the thriller.

"As per the demand of the role, there will be a lot of action in the sequel. So hopefully, audiences will get to see a new Vidya in 'Kahaani 2'," Ghosh told IANS.

"Not too much, but as per the script, Vidya will have few action scenes in the film. So as the script demands, I had asked her to be in shape. There will be some physical activities that Vidya will have to do in the film," he added.

"Kahaani", shot in Kolkata, came in he beginning of 2012 and was a super hit. The film revolved around Vidya's character, who was in search of her missing husband.
Now Ghosh is working on the script of the second instalment, which will repeat characters from the original.

"The script is not yet ready. We are in the process of developing the script. Once the script is ready, the film will go on the floors next year," he said.

"Few portions will be shot in Kolkata and many of the characters will be repeated," he added.

Maneesh Sharma's next for Yash Raj Films (YRF), which was supposed to initially star Shahid Kapoor, now features popular T.V. actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Sushant would be paired opposite YRF's discovery Parineeti Chopra in this forthcoming film.

Sushant already has couple of big Bollywood projects like Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che and Rajkumar Hirani's P.K. in his kitty and the young lad has now added yet another plum project in his bag. Parineeti, on the other hand, has already been seen in 2 YRF films namely Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl and Ishaqzaade.

It will be interesting to see this fresh pairing in Maneesh Sharma's next.

Pavitra Rishta’s Sushant Singh Rajput has been confirmed in three big films: Raj Kumar Hirani’s Aamir Khan starrer PK with Anushka Sharma, Abbhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che! opposite Parineeti Chopra and Yash Raj Film’s Gunday with Ranveer Singh

Television’s heartthrob Sushant Singh Rajput is flying high these days. And no, there are no strange illegal substances involved! The television star will be playing leading roles in not one, but three big ticket films coming up in 2013.

Besides being confirmed yesterday by Rajkumar Hirani for a leading role alongside Aamir Khan and opposite Anushka Sharma in the film PK, Sushant has also recently been confirmed to be playing a lead role against Parineeti Chopra in the yet unnamed project by Yash Raj Films being directed by the Band Baaj Baarat director Maneesh Sharma. Added to this, the former Pavitra Rishta hero is also playing one of the main characters in the movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel, The 3 Mistakes of my Life titled Kai Po Che!

Well that’s more films in Sushant’s kitty than in Shahid Kapoor’s, whom Sushant replaced in the Yash Raj project opposite Parineeti! Tch tch. See what we told you about flying high?

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan will reprise the iconic role of the Kabuliwala in an upcoming film based on the classic tale by Rabindranath Tagore

The iconic short story by Rabindranath Tagore about an Afghan dry-fruit seller and his love for a little girl that he ‘adopts’ as his daughter has caught the fancy of readers worldwide. It has been adapted a number of times for the big screen in the past, and at least two versions of the tale have been made famous in films. Now a third version is reportedly being planned.

Atiq Rahimi, a French-Afghan filmmaker plans to cast Amitabh Bachchan in a movie based on the popular story, and plans to base the story in a more current milieu. In the film, Amitabh will reprise the role of the Kabuliwala made famous by Balraj Sahni in the film that is to be shot in Kolkata and parts of Afghanistan next year.

And yes, though Bachchan is a veteran with decades of experience backing him, the shoes he has to fill acting-wise are huge. Sahni’s performance as Rehmat Khan the Kabuliwala was widely acclaimed and the movie became more famous than the short story! There’s also Chhabi Biswas’s interpretation; he played the original Kabuliwala in the 1957 adaptation of the story – which has also been widely acclaimed and is one of Biswas’ most famous roles to date. And although Amitabh has played an Afghan in Khuda Gawah, it is with Kabuliwala that he will get to show off just why he is called the ‘superstar’ of Indian cinema.

It’s no secret that the Talaash actor has a soft spot for Aamir Khan’s nephew. But exactly how far would she go for this cute Khan?

The story about Kareena Kapoor walking out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela and into Punit Malhotra’s next that also starred Imran Khan made a loud noise. And while most opined that it was Bebo’s royal wedding with beau Saif Ali Khan that caused a major issue, we couldn’t help but wonder if KK’s fondness for Imran had a role to play in it all.

And we say this only after seeing the two actors – Kareena and Imran – gushing about each other all the time in interviews. While Imran has blatantly declared that he is absolutely smitten by Kareena since he was a child, KK confesses that she doesn’t mind IK’s playfulness when he teases her about prioritising maamu Aamir Khan’s Talaash above all else. And this equation is cho chweet, we agree.

Maybe that’s what director Punit Malhotra also noticed and so he cast the two in his upcoming romantic flick. Quite possible, no? And perhaps the undivided attention of a fan who is also a good photographer (read: Imran Khan) made it a tad easier for Kareena to say ‘yes’ to the movie. Don’t you agree, readers?

And while it’s amply clear that certain B-towners simply love this jodi, I ask you,
Are you a fan of the Kareena Kapoor-Imran Khan pairing too?

The latest film to jump onto the remake bandwagon is Gulzar's 1971 directorial debut 'Mere Apne', which many regard as his finest till date. Producer Sunil Bohra has bought the film's remake rights from its original producers Romu and Raj Sippy for a whopping Rs 1 crore.

"Casting is yet to begin but apparently, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan and Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in pivotal roles. The original Mere Apne had Vinod Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha as the warring gangsters who come together for their love for a lonely, abandoned woman played by Meena Kumari in her last screen appearance.

The gorgeous South star makes a bold move

Andrea Jeremiah who will soon be seen as one of the main protagonist in an upcoming film is all set to stun her audience. If sources are to be believed, the actor will play a nude model in the upcoming Endrendrum Punnagai. Besides Andrea, the film also has Jiiva, Trisha Krishnan, and Vinay in lead roles. The upcoming film is being directed by Ahmed of Vamanan fame. “Andrea is playing a model who poses in the nude for the students of a fine arts college. She accepted the role only after she was thoroughly convinced about its scope,” sources added.

They maintained that there would be no vulgarity in the scenes involving Andrea. The film is touted as a feel-good movie with a happy mix of romance and comedy.

After making a critically and commercially successful debut with National Award Winning feature 'Taare Zameen Par' back in 2007, Aamir got busy with many acting assignments. But the superstar is ready to don the director's cap once again and even has a script chosen and ready.

However, as most of us know, Aamir prefers to concentrate on one project at a time rather than juggle more than a few together. And considering he has so many releases lined up, this venture might take its fair share of time to go on floors. "I have a story that I have chosen and hope to direct. But right now I have responsibility as an actor, plus I have the second season of my show," Aamir told PTI

Aamir has a series of films lined up for the coming months. First up is Talaash which releases in four days. Then 'Peekay', Yashraj's 'Dhoom 3' and finally, he is all set for the second season of his show Satyamev Jayate. "The script is written by someone else. I have told the writer it (direction) will take time. I don't know when I would direct next," he added. He might even produce it, he speculated.

Aamir has previously assisted his uncle on Manzil Manzil and Zabardast in the 80s before he made his acting debut.

We look forward to his next venture.

In an interview, Salman revealed that Dabangg 3 is in the offing, and also told us a bit of what the story would be all about

Salman Khan is a man who doesn’t mince any words. As a result, one gets to know all sorts of quirky things that are cooking in his head, and sometimes juicy details escape his lips. In a recent interview, when asked whether there will be a Dabangg 3, Salman not only answered in the affirmative but also let us know what the story would be. The third installment of the movie will be a prequel and will delve on how Chulbul Pandey became who he is, and how his life came to be the way it is.

Well, it’s a great piece of news for all Dabangg and Sallu fans. But we wonder whether the prequel will be made if Dabangg 2 fails to impress? Also, will Arbaaz Khan don the director’s hat again for Dabangg 3? We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out. And is it wise for Salman to reveal the plot of the third film in the series, even before the sequel Dabangg 2 releases? Probably not! But again, when it comes to Salman, a commitment is a commitment, and we surely are waiting for Sallu to fulfill his third Dabangg promise.

Surveen Chawla to play main lead in Hate Story 2

The TV actor will be seen replacing Paoli Dam in the Hate Story sequel, and producer Vikram Bhatt thinks she will do absolute justice to the role

Surveen Chawla is a popular face on television. She has been a part of many ads and has also tried her hand at acting in Punjabi films. But will the babe be able to raise temperatures, just the way the sexy Ms Paoli Dam did in the prequel Hate Story? Well, Vikram Bhatt is highly confident that she will. And he also reveals that Hate Story 2 won’t be all about sex, it will be more about a woman’s mind. He gives us a fair idea that sex won’t overshadow the concept of the film – which a signature Bhatt film is usually like. And reportedly along with the main lead, even the director of the film will no longer be the same. Vishal Pandya will be replacing Vivek Agnihotri when it comes to calling the shots. And Bhatt justifies this replacement by saying that Vivek is currently busy with other projects, which is why he had to opt for someone else.

We hope Surveen is all geared up to showcase her sensual side, ‘coz matching up to Dam’s sexy avatar is going to be no mean feat. What say, readers?

The director’s historical will focus on the ancient Indian cities of Mohenjo-daro and Harappa

Never mind the failure of Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (KHJJS) and the amount of flak he received for the film, it seems Ashutosh Gowariker won’t let go off his fetish for period cinema. The maverick filmmaker’s obsession with period films started with Lagaan, followed by the semi-fictional Jodhaa Akbar, and continued with KHJJS, which was a story based on true events. And now, we hear that the ambitious director has already decided to go further back in time with his next film based on the Indus Valley Civilisation.
According to popular historians, the roots for the populace of India came from the ancient civilisations of Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, and Gowariker says that the subject holds a lot of relevance today. “Yes, it will again be a period film, a love story made on a larger canvas,” the filmmaker revealed in an interview recently, adding, “We can take a lot from that civilisation, as I feel we are racing towards a similar situation. The only problem is that no one is aware of this. So, I want to convey a story about the civilisation, particularly Mohenjo-daro. The idea is to narrate it in the form of a love story.”

Like all his films, this time too, Ashutosh wants to leave no unturned for his next big budget ensemble, and he’s currently working on the research, and is being assisted by a team of senior archaeologists. Good luck, Ashutosh!

Sonakshi Sinha to make her debut in South opposite Mahesh Babu

After proving her mettle in Bollywood, the Dabangg babe is all set to make her entry in South cinema

Actors who aren’t getting good film offers in Bollywood often moved down South in the hope of cementing a career in Kollywood and Tollywood. And that trend was made passé by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was the most high profiled B-town star to expand her reach with regional cinema, even as she had a strong career going for herself in Hindi movies. And then many heroines followed suit; the latest it seems is Sonakshi Sinha who has taken a leaf out of Ash’s career moves. The Dabangg babe is all set to make her debut in Telugu cinema opposite Mahesh Babu in Sivam.

The big budget movie, to be produced by Ashwini Dutt and directed by Krish, will go on floors by mid-2013. Though there has been no official confirmation, our trusted sources say that Sona has indeed signed on the dotted line.

With a slew of Rs 100 crore hits like Rowdy Rathore and Son of Sardaar, will Sonakshi continue ruling the roost in South too. Looks like Ms Sinha really hit the jackpot in her debut itself. Starting a career in South opposite the King of Tollywood is indeed a big opportunity, no? We wish her all the very best for a rocking debut!

The Krrish 3 actor is all set to portray a mujra dancer in Vishwas Patil’s Rajjo. But will she pull it off with élan?

Ever since Kangna Ranaut started her film career with Anurag Basu’s Gangster, she’s excelled mostly in portraying mentally unstable and disturbed characters, be it in Woh Lamhe or Fashion. It’s only with Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai that Ms Kangs changed the course, and later went on to do some light-hearted roles in movies like No Problem, Tanu Weds Manu and Rascals.

There’s no denying that Kangna is a powerhouse performer, and she is careful in selecting the right kind of films and characters. So it didn’t come as a surprise when Ms Ranaut chose to play the role of a mujra dancer (nautch girl) in Vishwas Patil’s Rajjo alongside versatile actors, Mahesh Manjrekar and Prakash Raj. Coz unlike her contemporaries, she is known to tread on the road less traveled.

In decades of Hindi cinema, we have seen eternal beauties like Meena Kumari, Rekha and Madhuri Dixit dance their way to fame for their effective portrayal of mujra dancers in films like Pakeezah, Umrao Jaan and Devdas respectively. And wethinks it’s actually going to be a cakewalk for Kangna too considering that the she has already started training in dance, and has been catching up on movies like Umrao Jaan and Pakeezah to learn the nuances of mujra. Now, if only she pays equal attention to her diction (remember she screaming ‘Bustard’ which actually meant ******* in Fashion?)

    Right Kangna?
