James Douglas "Jim" Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) was the lead singer and lyricist of the rock band The Doors, as well as a poet. He Is of Irish descent. Following The Doors' explosive rise to fame in 1967, Morrison developed a severe alcohol and drug dependency that culminated in his death at the age of 27 in Paris. He is presumed to have died from a heroin overdose, but as no autopsy was performed, the events surrounding his death and the exact cause of it continue to be disputed by many to this day.
Morrison was well known for often improvising spoken word poetry passages while the band played live. Due to his wild personality and performances, he is regarded by critics and fans as one of the most iconic, charismatic and pioneering frontmen in rock music history.

I see myself as an intelligent, sensitive human, with the soul of a clown which forces me to blow it at the most important moments.

Robby Krieger was the last member to join The Doors. Robert Alan Krieger was born on January 8, 1946, along with a twin brother, in Los Angeles California. Robby started out playing flamenco guitar, which can be heard best on The Doors song Spanish Caravan, and also played folk guitar. Because of Robby’s guitar training, he never used a pick. Robby also brought slide to the electric guitar, which Jim liked so much, he was reported as saying, “Let’s use that on every song!”. Robby’s style of playing is very unique and quite different from what the other bands were doing at the time. It was the perfect match to Densmore and Manzarek, and together, the three of them provided the perfect soundscape for Morrison to hang his words on.
