    Default 5 IPL Chokes

    Daniel Christian vs Mumbai Indians

In their chase of 139, the Mumbai Indians were completely cornered by the Deccan Chargers as they needed 18 runs in the last over to record an away win. This was after Dale Steyn had bowled a fantastic penultimate over in which he conceded only five runs and saw the back of Dinesh Karthik. DC skipper Kumar Sangakkara handed Daniel Christian the ball hoping the Aussie would be able to contain the visitors with all his experience.

However, Sanga was wrong! Both James Franklin and Rohit Sharma went after the pacer and derailed his rhythm. Still, Christian hasthe opportunity to redeem himself as MI needed three off the last ball to record a stunning win. Alas, the nervous bowler ended up bowling a low full-toss that was smashed for a six by Sharma

    Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Daredevils

The Royals were well in sight of chasing down the Daredevils' 152 as they needed just 15 off the last 12 deliveries. With the in-form Ajinkya Rahane still in the middle, RR were firm favorites in this contest. However, the second-last over by Purple Cap holder, Morne Morkel went for only three runs, and DD were back in the hunt. But Rahane kept his team's hopes alive as he brought them within one run of the Daredevils' total with one ball to go.

However, the Orange Cap holder inexplicably missed a slower delivery by Umesh Yadav that went straight to the keeper who ran-out Owais Shah. This one-run loss can't be blamed on Rahane alone, as it was, after all, the experienced Brad Hodge who was restricted by Morkel in the previous over!

    Piyush Chawla vs Mumbai Indians

Kings XI Punjab had done a great job of restricting the Mumbai Indians to 135/6 in 17.4 overs in their chase of 169. However, this meant the dangerous Robin Petersen joined Ambati Rayudu in the middle, so it was going to be anything but a cakewalk for the hosts. However, no one expected the next bowler, Piyush Chawla to fold the way he did. Despite all his experience, the left-arm spinner ended up giving away 27 runs in the second-last over of the match.

Needless to say, this turned the match on its head, and the visitors got home with one ball to spare

Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

KXIP were lucky to get out of jail thanks to a match-winning six by Piyush Chawla. During their run-chase of 159 against RCB, the Mohali franchise was cruising at 151/3 in 17.3 overs. However, a series of unnecessary run-outs--three to be precise--in the space of seven deliveries, meant that the visitors needed five off the last over, with two new batsmen at the crease.

This could have turned ugly for KXIP if it weren't for Chawla and Paras Dogra keeping their wits about them and playing sensible cricket for a change!

    Deccan Chargers vs Rajasthan Royals

After their close loss to the Mumbai Indians, the Deccan Chargers dug deep and put up a great batting performance against the Rajasthan Royals. DC plundered runs all over the Sawai Mansingh Stadium and ended up with towering score of 196/2 in their 20 overs. However, little did they know that their bowlers, including the mighty Dale Steyn were going to have a really bad day in the office!

The Chargers just couldn't get their line right and ended up losing another game in the final over--this time with two balls to spare!
