Default Players to Watch Out For at Wimbledon 2012

    Victoria Azarenka

If 2011 was all about Novak Djokovic, then Azarenka is most certainly his female equivalent in 2012. Her mind-blowing start this season has seen her take a giant leap to become World No. 1, after winning the first 23 matches of the year and taking the titles at Sydney, Doha and Indian Wells!

She's had a perfect year aside from her quarterfinal loss in Miami to Marion Bartoli; so who's to say the winning streak won't continue at Wimbledon?

    Novak Djokovic

All hail the current king of tennis! We already know that this Serbian is going to be a tough nut to crack on the grass courts of Wimbledon this year. Still, he has a lot to prove on grass and that's what the Wimbledon is all about.

12 months ago, a vanquished Roger federer got it together just in time to put an end to the Serbian's 41-match unbeaten streak, and once again, they took each other on in the semi-finals at Roland Garros. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have been playing musical chairs for long now, and this time, we have a feeling it's going to be Nadal and Djokovic who are heading towards an inevitable showdown!

    Andy Rodic.k

Here's why we really need to watch out for this American sensation this year: this could well be his last Wimbledon! After 13 years of professional tennis, a recently-recovered hamstring, and several other complications, he has publicly admitted that this is probably going to be his last meaningful performance at the All England Club.

Over the years, Rod**** has been carrying the burden of his legacy (the likes of Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras and Jimmy Connors to name a few) with elan and has even won the US Open, not to mention became World No. 1 shortly after his 21st birthday. If this is going to be his last hurrah, then it's very likely that he's going to make this a good one--and we just can't wait to watch it!

    Rafael Nadal

So far, he's won 47 career titles along with $41,745,602 in prize money. He recently clinched his sixth French Open title and equalled Bjorn Borg's long-standing record. And now, it's time for Rafa to attempt a third win in four years at the All England Club.

Of late, Nadal hasn't exactly been at his best even though he won the French Open. Besides, his No.1 ranking was hijacked by a relentless Novak Djokovic. Judging by how heated their rivalry has become, his performance is bound to be one of the most interesting things to watch at this year's Wimbledon

    Barbara Schett

In every tournament, there's always one woman to watch, simply for watching's sake. A few years ago, that 'most watchable female player' title belonged to Anna Kournikova, but this year it is undoubtedly this gorgeous Austrian tennis player.

Her playing skill leaves a lot to be desired, seeing as to how she's yet to get past the quarter final stage in a Grand Slam event; she even exited from the Wimbledon in the first round itself last year. But most men will be happy to watch her anyway. In any case, we sure hope her tennis looks as good as she does this year because it'll only give us one more reason to watch her more closely!

    Venus Williams

This one is a no-brainer. Between the two super sisters, they have won a combined nine Wimbledon titles already--and that's only in the singles category! However, in the last few years, despite a few stellar wins, Venus' inconsistency has garnered more attention than her raw talent. Therefore, the stakes are incredibly high for her at this year's Wimbledon.

This is her chance to prove herself to all those critics and put all the doubters in their place once and for all. The question now remains: will she be one of those top seeds who falls at the first hurdle, or will she triumph against all odds to cinch yet another championship? Only time will tell
