The winner of Group A and B would qualify for the second round where they will play against established teams. For the second round, the countries have been divided further into groups A and B comprising of 5 teams each.
Group A: Sri Lanka, South Africa, West indies, England and the Top team of Group B from the first round

Group B: India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Winner of the group A from the first round

Important announcement:

BCCI has made an announcement that if Pakistan occupies the second slot in Group B, it will be playing the semi final match in Delhi instead of Mumbai on 30th march. The second semi final would be shifted to Mumbai.

The Group B in the second round is being referred to as the group of death due to the presence of title contenders namely India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand. On any given day, the teams can beat each other. India and Australia look very formidable in their group as many players of both countries play alongside each other in IPL. Pakistan is an unpredictable side and can spring huge surprises due to the bowling attack.

Sri Lanka, West Indies and South Africa will be involved in an enthralling contest to proceed to the next stage. The PROTEAS with players such as RABADA and ABOTT will be a force to reckon with and any side should have to be at their top of the game to beat them fair and square.
