Default There's Something About Hollywood Queens

All hail the kookiest of Hollywood queens.

Cameron Diaz has always been a ditsy blonde with an insanely goofy smile, but Whatever Happens In Vegas -- releasing in India this week -- is a pretty big deal for the actress: with that film, she is now Hollywood's highest paid actress.

So, to celebrate the star being paid $50 million for Vegas, here's a look at her most memorable successes -- characters that made the big-screen shine brighter.

    There's Something About Mary
The titular Mary could well have been upstaged in this daft comedy, her character straddled with the straight part while all the guys got to do all the hardcore clowning around. However, that dazzling smile and the overwhelming naivete she displayed during one particular scene involving hair gel made it the freeze-frame of the film. And established her absolute irresistibility.

Sure, this film coasts largely on the shoulders of comedians Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers (playing Donkey and Shrek, respectively), but Princess Fiona remains as iconic as modern day animated characters get.

Not just is she a more than fine foil to both talented voice actors, but she manages to carry off both adorability and ***-kicking with equal ease.

    Default Being John Malkovich

Quite likely her finest performance to date, Cameron's Lotte is a superb character. This surreal Charlie Kaufman film features her as a housewife more than open to radical experimentation, and the scene where she enters John Malkovich's head while he's reading Chekhov is plain brilliant.

One of Martin Scorsese's overlooked -- and, it must be said, overdone -- features, Gangs had Diaz playing pickpocket Jenny Everdeane. The role is far trickier than it may seem, with the actress playing lover -- and confidante -- to the film's rival protagonists Bill Cutting (Daniel Day-Lewis) and Amsterdam (Leonardo DiCaprio).

It's a fine performance, and one that gives us the film's most flawless shot: when the lovely Diaz is punched roughly and suddenly in the mouth.

Saving the first for last, eh? Diaz was 21, minus any prior acting experience, and yet she sauntered into one of 1994s biggest hits.

Jim Carrey's Stanley Ipkiss was a loser in the most extreme sense of the word, but when Diaz's Tina walks into the bank -- looking far more like a million bucks than any dollar bills ever could -- our jaws drop just as low as his.
The wolf-whistles have always been well-deserved.
